Joel and Ethan Coen have written, produced and directed an American comedy- drama about a week in a life of a singer in New York, back in 1961. A Grand Prix winning movie at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, is following a life of Llewyn Davis, the fictional character, who is struggling with Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961. Oscar Isac was playing Llewin Davis, whose musical partner Mike Timlin has committed suicide, after which he was broke and forced to sleep on his friend's couch. Soon, he gets involved in an affair and has to pay for an abortion for a girl named Jean, played by Carey Mulligan, who thought that Llewyn might be a father. He plays his songs, rejects to be a part of a newly formed trio and gets beaten in front of a club he was performing in. All of that in just a week of his live, that was presented in a "Inside Llewyn Davis" movie, with Oscar Isaac playing the main role along with Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Ethan Phillips and others. The whole story was inspired by the cultural layering on the New York's music scene and a huge disconnection between layers. And, believe it or not, it all started from the scene where the character got beaten up in front of the club. The movie was also produced by Scott Rudin and the executive music producer was T Bone Burnett. It was definitely not easy to be an active musician, back in 1960, in New York...
