If budget is low, then you have to compensate it with good script. Todd Berger is aware of this and used good old recipes. He is writer and director of It’s a Disaster. Majority of the movie is filmed in one house. He placed eight people that are friends inside of it. Friends get together for social meeting, brunch, drinking and relaxing. Everything changes and begins when their neighbour (Todd Berger) dressed in hazmat suit gives them bad news. They learn that many dirty bombs are set off all over the county. Consequently radiation and nerve gas will reach to them in couple hours. This inevitable tragedy will trigger series of hilarious dialogues. Faced with mortality and fast approaching death these people start to change. They start sharing small dirty secrets. With nothing to lose, looking for relief these people go through different emotions. Anger, denial and acceptance are the main emotions and it goes different for each person. Their free guessing about afterlife makes tragic event very funny. Rachel Boston, America Ferrera, Kevin M. Brennan, David Cross, Jeff Grace and Erin Hayes had fun filming this movie. It’s a Disaster can be considered comic drama or tragic comedy. It is nice move for any social gathering, especially for young couples.
