Jack Goes Boating is an outstanding drama that deals with problems in relationships and two very unusual people becoming a couple. As the title itself says, the main character of the movie is Jack (Philip Seymour Hoffman). He is a bit awkward and really simple guy. He is caring and loving fellow, but he has problems in getting along with people. He is a long time friend with a married couple Clyde and Lucy. At one point, two of them decide to invite him over for dinner, but they also invite a gorgeous blonde girl Connie (Amy Ryan), who is also a bit awkward. Their hopes are that two of them will get along and be together. Two of them are pretty direct and sincere from the moment they see each other. And the big part of the movie is focused on two of them getting along and hoping that one likes the other one. The story shows how far is Jack willing to go to please Connie. After she mentions once during the winter, that she would like to go boating when the spring and nice weather comes, and Jack is more than eager to take her. But, first, he needs to beat his fear of water and to learn to swim.
