The year is 1966 in North Bend in Oregon. Kristen (Amber Heard) is a young girl who's been arrested after burning down her farmhouse. Right after that, she's been taken to the psychiatry. There, in the North Bend Psychiatric Hospital, she's been assigned to Dr. Gerald, her doctor, who is doing some researches and is using some of the still experimental treatments. There, she also meets other girls and women like her: Emily, Sarah, Zoey and Iris. They are all watched by Lundt, a nurse who is a pretty tough cookie. After one night, everything starts to get a serious dimension. While taking a shower, Kristen sees a ghost. At first she starts thinking that she's totally lost her mind and ignores that, but after she finds out that name of that ghost is Alice Leigh Hudson, things get really creepy. That starts to intensify after Iris, one of the inmates, is ready to go home, to be discharged, but still disappears and is found murdered in the basement. The other girls decide to look after her outside. At that point, there is another victim- Sarah. Emily seems to be the next one on this ghost's list and they are all scared to death. Kristen decides to look for shelter with Zoey, but as Zoey gets killed next, she rushes to Dr. Stringer's office and finally finds the truth about Alice, the ghost girl, who was once an intern at the hospital.
