Based on the novel of John Ajvide Lindqvist, Matt Reeves adapted the story for the screenplay and directed the movie. It is a 116 minute long drama horror with mystery elements that will keep you glued to your seats throughout the entire time. It tells a story about an unusual friendship of two young people. The story is located in Los Alamos in New Mexico. It starts with a 12 year old boy named Owen, who is pretty lonely. He is considered an outcast in his school and because of that, he is constantly bullied by some of the class mates. What comes to his dreams is the revenge on these bullies. At one point, into the apartment next to his, a young girl Abby and a her father move in. Two of the kids get to know each other. As they start talking and sharing the informations and stories from their lives, Abby advices Owen to stand up for himself and fight these bullies. Not long after that, we get to find out that Abby is actually a vampire and that her father is a serial killer who kills people in order to supply her with blood she needs to feed. As Owen finds out about Abby's origin, he gets into the most peculiar situation- he feels both affection and fear for the girl and can't run nor stay by her side. As the murders that her father commits start going under investigation, the rumour spreads that satanic cult is near.
