Meet Holly (Katherine Heigl) and Eric (Josh Duhamel). They are total opposites. But still, they are on a blind date set up by their common friends, Peter and Allison (Hayes MacArthur and Christina Hendricks). The date is a disaster, and they instantly disliked one another, but their friends keep pushing them. At each party and each occasion, both of them get invited and if possibly paired up as well. After a tragic accident in which Peter and Allison die, there is only their little baby girl left behind, young Sophie. The attorney calls both Holly and Eric to talk with them and reveals them that, Peter and Allison have left in their will that, if anything should happen to them, Sophie's legal guardians would be the two of them. With Holly being a pretty much control freak, who works in the food shop called Fraiche and is interested in one of her frequent costumers, and Eric working with sports equipment and changing his girlfriend every five minutes, two of them make a pretty unlikely couple. Reluctant to the idea, but not having the idea how to do it otherwise, they move in the late couple's house and agree on raising Sophie until they have it all figured out. Juggling their daily jobs and taking care of a baby makes two of them argue every day less and less. Are they really becoming a couple?
