You know there are such small towns where nothing really happens: you know all the town’s residents, you’ve been to all the local “landmarks”, and you know all the current rumours. The movie is set in exactly such place – a small Idaho city. It is a very ordinary populated town, where once a dead body is found. This incident becomes a trigger that starts causing various occasions. It’s noteworthy that the body of a young woman is found by two little boys who come to the conclusion that there’s no other way dealing with it than burying the girl. You might expect that this occasion would drag much attention from the locals, but even the sheriff and the girl’s family show a shocking lack of interest in her disappearance. Instead of focusing on the corpse, the director paid more attention to a damages pond and emotionless communication among the youth. This way the girl’s death becomes only a parallel event in the movie. “Magic Valley” abounds in beautiful camera shots of nature – breathtaking sunsets and views of the valley.
