It is hard to make for living, especially if you aren't highly educated and don't have mighty parents, who can ask for a favour and get you a job like that. Marisa Ventura (Jennifer Lopez) is a simple room service maid, who is also a single mom in New York City. She works in a first class hotel, where lots of famous persons are staying over. Discretion is guaranteed, so there is no talking about anything she sees while she's at work. As one of the high class and elite guests Caroline Lane (Natasha Richardson) leaves her room incharged to Marisa, believing that she will only be cleaning it and nothing else, Marisa gets into a pretty unusual situation. After one of her friends convinces her to try on a fancy suit that actually belongs to the hotel guest, Marisa gets mistaken for Caroline. So, that is how she meets Christopher Marshall (Ralph Fiennes) one of the most powerful politicians, who believes she is a guest at that hotel. Two of them start spending a lot of time together and finally fall in love. Christopher also accepts her son and starts falling for her big time. After it gets revealed that she is only a maid and that Caroline is actually someone else, Marisa is fired and Christopher is on the search for her. Still, two of them belong to different worlds. Will they be able to resolve their differences?
