What would you do if you want to do the greatest robbery of all the times? How would you distract police? Writer of the movie Man on the Ledge Pablo F. Fenjves came up with a solution to that. And Asger Leth made it all true with his directing skills. In the centre of the story is an ex convict and a former cop Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington). After his appeal was denied, and he finds out that his father had died, Nick was escorted by two police officers to his fathers funeral. There, he gets into a huge argument and a fight with his younger brother Joey Cassidy (Jamie Bell) and decides to flee. The next thing they know, he is at Roosevelt Hotel, on the 21st floor. He is leaving a note and getting outside of the window, just on the ledge of it. That attracts a big crowd and the news reporters, but also the police. As a negotiator Lydia Mercer (Elizabeth Banks) was sent to calm things down a bit. She tries to talk him into getting back into his room, but he refuses. At one point, Lydia gets informed who the man actually is. He was falsely accused of robbing David Englander (Ed Harris). So, as she negotiates with him, his brother Joey and his girl Angela Maria 'Angie' Lopez (Genesis Rodriguez) use the chance to break into Englanders jewelry and take what they already are accused of. And at one point, you realize that Nick is only one big distraction in a very cleverly thought plan.
