Now days life changes faster and faster. Schooling takes more time than ever before. People start working at later age than before. There is general lack of stimulation. That situation results with many young and still not so young people unsatisfied, medicated and lost. It is not uncommon that individuals 30 years old start finding themselves. It is like they start to live at that age. Starting real life inspired Cory Krueckeberg to write story about man who decided to be happy. Based on that story Tom Gustafson directed movie Mariachi Gringo. Movie can be seen as critic of modern society or at least part of population that didn’t explore world around them. How can someone be happy if he didn’t experienced things that make him happy? Main character Edward (Shawn Ashmore) has an unremarkable life. He lives a boring life in Kansas. After lot of thinking and couple inspiring conversations that Edward had, he decides to chase happiness. He goes straight to Guadalajara desert in Mexico to become one of the Mariachi. That call is interesting and unique because they play characteristic music and their main job is to help people celebrate. While pursuing his dream Edward learns many things. He becomes happy and enjoys his time in Guadalajara. After some time he goes briefly to Kansas and has chance to compare and see how much things have changed. Costumes and filming locations manage to capture spirit of Mexico. Even with low budget Mariachi Gringo is highly rated movie and worth of watching.
