We all dream of meeting some new life forms from outer space. But what no one ever considered is that they might actually be among us, but they are so little that we don't notice them. And there is where this story begins. After a group of tiny alien forms gets on Earth, they decide to come in a spaceship that blends into the environment perfectly- shaped as one of humans. And it's called Dave (Eddie Murphy). And they are on Earth in order to retrieve the orb that was sent from their planed on to Earth in order to get the ocean's salt. Extraction of salt from the ocean is a process that can ruin Earth for good and they really don't care, because they need it. Unfortunately, they find out that a boy named Josh (Austyn Myers) has their orb and that they must face him and his single mom in attempt to get what they came for. After Josh's mom Gina Morrison (Elizabeth Banks) hits Dave with her car as he was crossing the street, she damages the ship and aliens have limited time on finding their orb and leaving the Earth, and the deadline is in 48 hours. Of course, during these two days aliens get into a lots of interesting situations and manage to experience lots of new emotions while Dave has fin with Gina in New York city, especially in the dancing clubs.
