If you ever have the idea that your family is loud and big and they tend to get on your back, here is a movie that will make you feel better. Toula Portokalos (Nia Vardalos) is Greek and is 30, which in her case means that she is most probably to end up alone. Since most of her female cousins are already married and have kids, her parents have given up on getting her married. She works in the family restaurant called "Dancing Zorba's" in Chicago. But, Toula wants something else, because she believes that there is more to life than getting married and having kids. Her mother helps her make some of her dreams come true and as she starts having classes on college, she gets to meet a cute non-Greek guy called Ian Miller (John Corbett), and two of them falling in love. As her father gets to discover that she is involved with a non-Greek guy, he refuses at first, but as she decides to accept Ian's marriage proposal, her father has no choice any more. But, that isn't the end. Now, there is getting to know her family, as well as his family, get the whole wedding organized, getting the food ready and ordering the invitations. Of course, nothing goes the way Toula wants and with Ian by her side, she can only try and not get stressed out about it.
