There are numerous movies with action placed in one room. Nine Dead is one of them. What sets this movie apart from the others, is the lack of unnecessary violence. There are no supernatural creatures. This movie is horror, but not in the way horrors are usually done. Patrick Wehe Mahoney wrote the story that is centred on one question. Masked man kidnapped nine people and placed them in one room. Tied for pillars with handcuffs they can move in very restricted area. They don’t know each other but have to cooperate if they desire to live. Masked kidnapper gives them 10 minutes before killing next person if they don’t answer the question. That question so simple that answer is unimaginable. “Why are you here?” That is the question that nine complete strangers have to answer in order to survive. After first kill they get very serious. Many secrets should be considered as a reason for this event. Criminal, police officer, priest and common people have to overcome differences and to find the answer. Masked gunman actually doesn’t want them dead. He just wants them to figure out why he brought them in the bunker. To get what he wants, the kidnapper needs someone to stay alive. Shooting one by one is just method that he uses to stimulate them.
