When people think about police officers and detectives, they have various images, but very few of them show them as regular persons. Even off duty, officers still carry their job with them. In the same manner, they carry their problems to the job. There are some detectives who had problems with addiction and violence. These members of police have unique stamp that other see every time, during every conversation. Trust is like glass-you can fix it but you’ll always see the crack in it. Detective David Callahan (Stephen Dorff) has wife Alexandra (Elisabeth Röhm) and a teenage daughter Lanie (Beatrice Miller). David also has a dark past and addiction problems that went away after he was shot. After the shooting he was saved by a complete stranger. Some time after that event same stranger comes to David and gives him diary of his daughter. Stranger’s daughter committed suicide after someone beat her up and raped her on a parking lot. She was dancing in the night club owned by a drug dealer. David starts to investigate case of unfortunate girl and starts discovering strange things. At one point he learns that man he is chasing is a cop. This founding makes him question lot of things. Old addictions are on their way back as pressure is building up. Movie Officer Down has great story that is not linear and it is presented as puzzle. Action is matched perfectly with the story and twists are not obvious which makes this movie very good thriller.
