Oldboy is an action movie directed by Spike Lee, starring Josh Brolin, Samuel L. Jackson and Elizabeth Olsen. It is a story of an advertising executive who gets kidnapped and held hostage in solitary confinement for twenty years. As soon as he is released, he embarks on a mission to discover who is behind his punishment and gets entangled in a web of conspiracy. This movie is Spike Lee's reimagining of Park Chan Wook's cult classic. There are some things omitted which the fans of the original movie might find a bit off, but that doesn't necessarily make this a bad movie. Josh Brolin does an exceptional job at portraying the role of Joe Doucett. He does a good job and he never overacts. There are some pretty brutal and violent scenes in the movie, fans of action flicks will definitely enjoy said scenes. There are some comical scenes which only add to the absurdity of the whole premise of the movie. Oldboy is a story of revenge, a pretty violent story, it is filled with some gruesome death scenes and those who have not seen the original Oldboy should check both of the movies out. If you want to see an interesting action movie with a good story and some over the top action scenes, give this one a go.
