I’ve watched this film a great number of times. There should have been better character build and thorough plot. The two girls dancing is entirely overplayed. There was no obscene touching. They even did a patty-cake type thing at end. The film includes a moderate romantic scene between Valerie and Peter, but again nothing was even really shown, apart from kissing that you see everyday. I wish this movie would have been directed to a different audience like “Twilight” movies. When you go to watch this film, you are going to see a movie with werewolves and other fictional characters. It is what it is. I would recommend the movie to mature teenagers and mid adults! I believe other age groups either won’t understand it, or not like it.

Well I guess I need to start with the words that the actors for this movie were selected just perfect. I have no idea who chosen them, but the job done was a great one. Like for example Amanda Seyfried, the actress with huge blue eyes and those golden curls, well what I am trying to say is that the “Red Riding Hood” from the first minute of her appearance has enchanted everyone. The image she has created was just perfect. For me it was a bit unusual to see Harry Oldman in this kind of movie, though after the “Fifth element” I am not surprised with anything. I have no idea how did he manage to appear in this movie, maybe he was drunk while signing the contract, or some zombie was chasing him :). And the wonderful gothic highlights which perfectly complements the entire atmosphere of the movie. And the gloomy forest fog is also very enchanting.

Well honestly speaking I never thought that it is so easy to screw up a good fairy tale and so easily. During the entire movie I had a feeling that Amanda Seyfried had no idea what she is doing in this movie; honestly speaking I think she has never even read this fairytale. I was expecting for more from her, I really thought she is capable of doing it, according to the previous movies that I have seen with her appearance, so it was a weird feeling that I have been fooled. And this is something I do not really like. Who likes being disappointed? I guess no one. And Harry Oldmen was not very good in the movie as well, with all his talent and previous works how could he participate in such a bulshit? Some crazy priest who tried killing a beast, seriously? God I cannot even explain how pissed off and disappointed I really am!

I will not say that I liked the movie. The idea to retake a favorite tale in a modern vision – is a very bad idea. That is why it is so important, that the filmmakers make it in the best possible way, thinking through every detail, because the most important thing is that the story we see in the movie, is not a usual one, it is the story that everyone knows from the childhood, “playing” with childhood tales is a very dangerous thing to do, as you never know the effect it might make on the viewers. This is an important task, which if performed poorly will become a tragedy. I think those stories are not supposed to be filmed only to make a person rent it once for killing time in one evening and after forgetting about it, unfortunately in my opinion, this "Red Riding Hood" is a very good example of screwed childhood tale.
