What is the movie Requiem for a Dream about?
It is not easy to deal with drug addiction, but when this issue reaches a higher level, that is when the real problems start happening even more often than ever. Requiem for a Dream is a movie that will make you think about the drug addiction and the world that these people live in. Director of the movie is Darren Aronofsky and he has to be happy with the 8.4 IMDb rating. Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, Marlon Wayans and a lot of other great actors are showing why they are so lovable. If we would have to describe the whole movie in one sentence, it would be something like this – if you are in love with drugs, you are going to have the problems that it causes. The story follows four people and all have their own problems, but there is one that is in common – heroin and other drugs. Requiem for a Dream shows another side of Brooklyn, that many people haven't seen at all. It is more than easy to buy drugs, but it is very difficult to get rid of them and not to use them. In order to get the drug money, Marion Silver played by Jennifer Connelly, needs to have sex with a group of rich men, and that is only one of the situations in the movie. You will probably remember the “ass to ass” scene in which she is having lesbian sex with another girl, while using a double-ended dildo. Jared Leto is brilliant as Harry Goldfarb, we have to mention Ellen Burstyn as Sara Goldfarb and Marlon Wayans as Tyrone.

The first question that i had in my mind after watching this movie was , for whom it was made?! And that i realize that it was for people who are facing drugs in this or that way, so they could see the situation from a different side, with the eyes of other people in their society. Also they could see the mother of the main hero, how big is the pain caused by the closest people, and how much you worry when you see that your closest person is not listening and doesn’t see what is doing with himself. Beside all those things they could know that drugs are also lowering the moral values of a person. And this dependence is so strong that the person is able to do things that in other circumstances wouldn’t ever done. It helps the person changing views about life. The only dependence i ever faced in my life was dependence to cigarettes, i remember i was fighting a lot with my family when they were hiding them from me, and for me it didn’t matter what words i am telling them, and whether i offend them or not.

This movie is clearly showing that the road to the dreams is far away from the drugs. This movie despited everything shown in it didn’t shocked me at all. I understand that all the characters of the heroes and things they did are the things that are done by a person in the last case if there is no hope, and even that is rare, but happens.
Of course there is a great use from it. Teenagers might get a moral trauma after watching it, and the sense of it will stay a unsolved mystery for a lot of them, and some of them during watching it will thing it is non sense, or it is gross to watch it and will not finish it, that is why i assume this movie is not for sensitive people. And adult people do not really need it, as they already saw all of this filth, and saw what alcohol or other addictions can cause. They or did their choice and try not to see the obvious things, or do not see it for real. Anyway i am sure that there are not that many people who will eat those pills in order to lose weight. Some of the pictures in the movie were too difficult for me to watch.

I have watched this movie for a few times, and all of those times i watched it with some interruptions from it. The first time i saw it in the times when i was still a student- and it made me go through a massive shock. After it i saw it in the times when i was mature already, and this time i watched it in a different way, i was analyzing it. This movie certainly has the right to exist. And it has to be seen by the teenagers. Everyone should see it! Everyone who has children! Who has friends or people they communicate with , and who have “bad influence” upon the,. Everyone who tried or has the desire to try some new feelings. I am sure that this movie will make a lot of people think upon the matter whether they need this “new feeling” and that it will not bring them to anything good. This is your life, so why make it dependent? We already depend from money and work, so why adding things that one day will kill you? I think this movie shows the life of people who are dependent from inside. And each of them will see something of his own, and will make conclusions about it.
