Sam used to be a high-profile advertising executive until one gloomy day his life was struck by the tragic death of his beloved son. He cannot continue living in the same manner after his closest and dearest person died, so he changes completely his way of living. Off the grid, he moves to a docked sailboat and tries to drown his pain in alcohol. He goes on with such miserable way of living until one day he finds a box filled with his son’s lyrics and demo tapes. He is struck by this unexpected discovery, because his son’s musical talent is a complete revelation for him. Sam has been grieving because he thought that he was always busy and absent from his son’s life. But when he found those demos, he realized that he could make it up to his son, or at least to his memory. Sam lingers in his son’s dreams and eventually learns all the songs and lyrics. He decides that these songs need to be heard by everybody and musters the will to play at a local bar. Quentin was in the audience when Sam was playing his son’s songs. Quentin is a musician too, and he was absolutely captivated by one of the songs. He tells Sam that they would sound better in a duet and eventually form a rock band. The new band becomes incredibly popular and changes lives of these two people.
