Chasing a dream is a hard thing to do. It doesn't mean it's all for nothing and that you should quit, but it does mean that you have to know what your dream is. Sara (Izabella Miko) is a young and passionate dancer from New York. She has made it and got into Julliard to be a Prima ballerina. As she gets to know her roommates, and the classes start, Sara already has her head wrapped around everything and doesn't know where to start. After one of her roommates, Zoe (Aubrey Dollar) convinces her to go to a club, although she has ballet class in the morning, she accepts and takes off. After meeting a cute African-American guy called Miles (Columbus Short) and engaging in a dance fight on the floor, Sara gets noticed and gains some respect in the dance community. The next day, she reveals that the guy from last night is actually her new hip-hop teacher. Two of them start falling for each other. Throughout the movie, Sara tries to stay focused on her dream, becoming a Prima ballerina, but as she gets closer and closer to it, she starts realizing that she will have to give everything else up, and she isn't ready for that. After getting the main role in the show Giselle, which is considered the ultimate goal in the ballet world, Sara leaves it all behind and gets back to loving Miles and doing hip-hop.
