With Nicolas Cage in main role and Ron Perlman at his side, you already assume that this movie has to be amazing. And you're right. It is about witches and fighting in the 14th century lands. First we get to meet our hero, a Crusader called Behmen von Bleibruck, who is coming home after a long fight and finds his whole town devastated by Black Plague. He and Felson, who is played by Ron Perlman, are in charge of a young dark haired girl, who is locked up in a cage after being accused of being a witch, and taking her to the abbey. And they are not alone. A priest, knight, a traveller and a young boy who dreams of becoming a knight one day join their cause. But what they all experience along the way to the abbey is everything but normal. Wolves keep attacking them, strange things happen in the middle of the forest and they decide to stick together for better or for worse. And as they finally manage to get to the abbey, they discover something new that will make them give their best in defending themselves against the dark forces that are overpowering them easily. It is a pretty engaging movie with lots of action, but maybe not suitable for children. It was directed by Dominic Sena and released in January 2011.
