David Cook wrote a novel “Golf Sacred Journey: Seven Days at the Links of Utopia” and that story become a solid base for Matt Russell to make the movie. With help from Sandra Thrift, Rob Levine and David Cook, Matt wrote the screenplay and directed a drama that goes beyond sports and regular problems that champions have. Seven Days in Utopia is a movie about self discovering, acceptance, life, love and good intentions. Young golfer Luke Chisholm grows apart from his father on his début on the pro stage. After minor car accident on old dusty road in Texas, he has some time to spend in Utopia. Utopia is a small town with population of 375. He gets offered by eccentric rancher to spend seven days in Utopia. For this seven days, this old and experienced rancher Johnny Crawford (Robert Duvall) will guide Luke tough situations that will make him face his emotions. During this journey about self discovery, Luke and Johnny will develop interesting relation and it will change from day to day. Patience and experience that Johnny has is much greater that Luke’s insecurity and his daddy issues. Movie is very enjoyable and it does not contain bad language and explicit scenes with nudity. Audience doesn’t have to know anything about golf because movie is universal as human emotions are.
