The story of the movie takes place in Sierra Nevada Mountains, 1887. A former crack Sharpshooter of the Civil War years, William Drayton, has lost his wife and his only daughter. With grief and despair, he leaves for the mountains not to be seen or heard of. One day his daughter, Elizabeth, whom he considered dead long ago, finds him. Meanwhile, a local thug, Horace Scarsdale is threatening the population of the small rural town, Sweetwater, with his band of gangsters, gathered for robbery and murders. Scarsdale dreams of his own town and to make his dream come true, he needs the access to the railroad. The inhabitants of the Sweetwater town start their own war against the bank robber and William decides to come down and to withstand as a legendary man with a gun…
