What is the movie Snowtown about?
The story revolves around Jamie, a teenager of sixteen, who lives with his mother, Elizabeth and his two younger brothers, Nicholas and Alex, in suburbs of northern Adelaide. Their trust home is shabby and sun-starved; Jamie’s life is full of sadness, hopelessness and violence that he dreams to escape one day. His salvation comes embodied in a new figure in Jamie’s life, John, a very charismatic man, who appears at their location by chance. John starts spending more and more time with Jaime’s family. As they come closer, Jaime starts feeling a true family, and newly gained sense of stability makes him calm down and relax. John becomes a father-like figure for Jaime, the one to follow. John brings Jamie in the world of righteousness, bigotry and malice. Spending more time with John and his friends, Jamie takes on some of their traits and beliefs. Jaime likes the attention and protection, provided by John, but soon enough, after some events take place, including disappearance of some people, Jaime gets suspicious about his new ‘father’. When he reveals the truth, his heart gets into a dilemma between loyalty to this person, hopes for happy family life and fear to John Bunting, an infamous serial murderer on Australian continent…
