J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek”, the 2009 reboot of the Star Trek television and film series, was an overwhelming success. Not only did it do well at the box office, but it was also met with high critical appraisal, with the majority of critics praising for the character development and the screen writing of Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. It features the characters from the original “Star Trek” TV series, played by new actors. The film opens in year 2233, when Starship USS Kelvin is attacked by a Romulan ship. Kelvin’s first officer George Kirk dies to save the life of his wife and his unborn child, soon to be called James T. Kirk. The story then jumps two decades forward, where we see the events which have led both Kirk and Spock to join the Starfleet. When a Romulan space ship attacks planet Vulcan, the closest Federation star ship is Enterprise, with Kirk, Spock, and a few other well known characters aboard. Star ship Enterprise finds itself in a battle against the mighty Romulan army led by evil commander Nero, who, after destroying Vulcan, plans to destroy Earth as well. In order to defeat Nero, our young heroes will have to learn to trust one another, and they will get some sage advice from an unlikely visitor from the future. With the Romulan ship nearing Earth, the young Starfleet officers will put their lives in great danger to stop the vengeful tyrant.
