“Starred up” is a recent prison drama directed by David Mackenzie in Great Britain. The title is the film contains its main idea – the early transfer of a minor criminal from a Young Offender Institution right to an adult prison. The movie is based on Jonathan Asser’s experiences, who used to work as a voluntary therapist at HM Prison Wandsworth. The film centers on Eric - an explosively violent and troubled teenager. It is obvious from the start that Eric is no fit to live in a normal society because he simply can’t take a hold of himself. His temper is explosive – he can’t live a single day without getting into trouble or giving full swing to his enormous rage. No wonder he gets in a Young Offender Institution. After spending there some time he is transferred to a worse place – an adult prison. We witness this transfer process from an institution for minor criminals to an adult prison. Upon reaching the prison he finds out that his father does his time at the very same prison. Eric has to comply with new rules, but as usual he rebels and gets into more troubles.
