After her father and her best friend had died in a car accident, a young teenage girl, India Stoker, played by Mia Wasikowska, was to live with her mother in the big mansion they had inherited. It was all too peaceful and quiet after he was gone. That is, it was until her uncle Charlie came to funeral and it was decided that he is moving in with her and her mother. Charlie is here played by Matthew Goode, who did an excellent job making his character come to life, because everyone was surprised and confused by his arrival to the funeral. Her mother, Evie (Nicole Kidman) becomes unstable over the course of time and is up to destroy her daughter. Luckily for India, she has skills, youth and her uncle on her side.
