Summer in February is a romantic biography drama based on a true story of a painter named Sir Alfred Munnings and his best friend Gilbert. The movie is set at a bohemian artist colony in the pre-war England. Alfred Munnings is born into a working class family and he rises to become of of the best British artists of his time winning the affection of an aristocratic beauty Florence Carter-Wood, but Gilbert falls in love with her as well and this is there a love triangle with tragic consequences emerges. The sets in the movie are spectacular, they look gorgeously amazing. It has been a while since i have seen a movie in which the sets look spectacularly well, this is probably the biggest plus of the movie. Those who enjoy a good love story will definitely enjoy what goes on in the movie, it is well written and has some heart warming moments. There are some scenes with which the movie could do without, but that fact can easily be ignored, it doesn't influence the movie too much, some might find it distasteful tho. The actors did a swell job and the same can be said for the composers. Everything seems to fall in place and each element of the movie manages to compliment the other one. If you like art and enjoy a romantic tragedy, be sure to check Summer in February out, it will certainly be a movie which won't let you down.
