Imagine you can live any life you want. And then imagine you can have as many bodies as you would like to. This movie explores the possibility of living your life just the way you want it and without any danger that you'll actually be hurt at any point. That's what surrogates are there for. And then imagine that the usage of surrogates has become an everyday thing. Using a surrogate to live your life through it is like another accessory to the clothes or hair. Here, main characters are Greer (Bruce Willis) and his surrogate, and he is an FBI agent. After 15 years of life with the help of the surrogates, he gets to investigate the first killing case. Since the company that makes surrogates gives guarantee that the owner is always unharmed, there is question raised: how did the owners die when their surrogates were killed? And even better question is why. There is where the whole mystery begins. Now, Greer must confront himself with living his life outside, like before, as well as trying to get his real wife back, and find the murdered that is causing all that mess in their perfect utopia. Or does the killer have right of destroying that world? How much did they miss by using surrogates? Where did all the closeness go?
