The Bang Bang Club is the movie that was made by the book, previously written by João Silva and Greg Marinovich. It was adapted for the movie and directed by Steven Silver. It deals with the South Africa in the time before Nelson Mendela came to power. Some of the images that were used in the movie are originally from the book. The whole story starts in 1994 in South Africa as Greg Marinovich (Ryan Phillippe), who is a freelance photographer gets to take a few of the valuable shots, capturing the precious nature of the people there and at that time. There, he meets three other photographers, who are working for Robin Comley (Malin Akerman), an editor for a magazine named Star- Kevin Carter (Taylor Kitsch), Ken Oosterbroek (Frank Rautenbach) and João Silva (Neels Van Jaarsveld). After they prove themselves as big shots by capturing the moment in which is a young man burning alive, four of these photographers form a bond and start working as a crew called The Big Bang Gang. Together, they get into various dangerous situations in order to capture more of these phenomenal moments. But, what they aren't aware of, is that those pictures aren't the only image of the country they're in, which bothers local residents very much.
