Kids enjoy in playing games and fantasizing about lost magical worlds, keeping their imagination fuelled by various fairy tales, their parents read to them every night. After being evacuated from their home, four kids of the Pevensie family are sent away to the countryside, where they can live their lives peacefully. But, as they get placed under the custody of an old professor, in whose house apply strict rules, kids start playing hide and seek game. The youngest one, Lucy (Henley), accidentally discovers a wardrobe closed, which leads to a strange place. Soon, she meets her first friend there, and finds out that the land is called Narnia, and is ruled by an evil White Witch, Jadis (Swinton). When she comes back and tells them, no one believes her. Peter (William Moseley), as the eldest, can hardly accept anything, because of the age difference. Susan (Anna Popplewell) is also an adult girl and doesn't care for that. Edmund (Skandar Keynes) is still too young but is looking for showing himself off. Bit by bit, three of her siblings find themselves also in Narnia. That is when the whole adventure begins. They get to confront both the White Witch and get to meet mighty Lion Aslan (Neeson), who is her main nemesis. After fighting against the evil witch and living their lives the way they want to, they finally realize that they must come back into their world. But, as they do, there is another surprise waiting for them.
