The Double is an excellent example of creative movie making. Story centers around a man called Simon, he is a timid man, he is what one might call an ordinary man who is a bit shy. He isn't noticed at work, his mother scorns him often and the woman he loves ignores him. He can't fight against those things, he feels powerless and unable to do anything about his dire situation in life. New co-worker, James, who is Simon's exact physical double, he looks exactly the same as Simon, but his inner workings are an exact opposite. James is charismatic, full of confidence and good with women. Simon has to make an important decision, will he continue to silently tolerate everything life throws at him or will he manage to change and adapt to new situations? The movie is based on a novel written by Dostoevsky, and fans of the great Russian writer are advised to see how the book looks on the screen. Writing of the movie is well done, creative and alluring, the acting is insanely well and Jesse Eisenberg manages to play two completely different roles very well. This movie definitely isn't for everyone, and it probably requires a second viewing in order to fully understand and appreciate everything the director throws at the audience. Brilliant, smart movie for people who appreciate the cinema as an art. With that being said, the movie can be watched by anyone who enjoys a good flick made to make the viewers think.
