Have you ever thought about how did people live back in 18th century? And what were the things that women and man had as obligations? What were they allowed to do and what not? This is a story about one of the royalty persons of that time- the Duchess Georgiana. The whole plot was based on the book written by Amanda Foreman, "Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire" and it was only later adapted into a screenplay by Saul Dibb, Anders Thomas Jensen and Jeffrey Hatcher. Saul was also the director of the whole thing. It starts with a young girl called Georgiana Spencer (Keira Knightley), who was married for the Duke (Ralph Fiennes) in 1774, and became famous because of his position in the society. It was the time of political change, decadence and fashion. She was adored by the crowds of people. Soon, she revealed just how disappointing her marriage is. Since she was free spirited, she was constantly reminded of her duties as a woman- to give birth to a male successor. Along with that, she finds out that her husband is cheating on her with one of her friends, Lady Bess (Hayley Atwell). As it became unbearable for her to live under the same roof with two of them, Georgiana soon found herself in love with Charles Grey (Dominic Cooper), a rising politician. But, things are going to get complicated when the Duke finds out about her affair with Charles.
