In one of the possible futures, in nation called Panem, there is the Capitol, which is the centre of everything and 12 more Districts. There used to be 13, but they rebelled against the Capitol and they were destroyed. As a reminder for the other Districts what happens when you stand up against the Capitol, every year Hunger Games are being held. And for that occasion, one man and one woman from every District must participate. There are 24 of them and the goal is to come out of there alive. Using your survival skills to make out of there is the basics of these Games. As the 74th Hunger Games are about to begin, they come to take two tributes from each District. As her younger sister gets picked up, brave Katnees Everdeen volunteers instead of her. Together with boy named Peeta Mellark, she gets into the Games and tries to stay alive. We get to see her and the lack of her social skills as they interview her in front of the cameras as well as during the Games, where she is to regain the sympathies of her sponsors and get some help. Throughout the event, she learns how to play this Game and keep both her and Peeta alive. As they change the rules in order to get young teenagers to fight against each other, and then change them back again, Katniss thinks of a way to cross them and make them both winners of the District 12. Both Jennifer Lawrence, who plays the role of Katniss, and Josh Hutcherson, who gets the role of Peeta, were a great surprise for the whole world. Their acting skills brought their characters to life.
