Whenever you see the name Meryl Streep in the movie casting, you already know it's going to be a blast. This is one of those cases as well. The screenplay for this piece was done by writer Abi Morgan and the movie itself was directed by Phyllida Lloyd. Throughout this 105 minute biography drama, the life and political career of Margaret Thatcher is followed. The story isn't linear, but the audience gets to discover almost everything from her past through the flashbacks this ageing woman has. There are lots of events that come to her mind- from her childhood, times as a young girl, getting married, her first time in politics, the good times, the bad times- everything. In the present, Margaret is eighty six years old, but in her head, she is always in some other time. The audience can enjoy in watching the history, her past be recreated and put to the screen, see the part of her private life, which was, in real life, hidden from the eyes of the public. There are also the events such as, when she was taking the challenge and her rise in the political life, her leadership in the Conservative Party, as well as what was going on while she was on the place of Prime Minister. According to critics, acting of Meryl Streep was amazing as always, but if you are looking for the movie that is historically totally accurate, you might want to skip out on this one. But if you are a huge fan of Meryl Streep, you should definitely get your hands on it as soon as possible.
