Mature Maggie Greenwald picked up a story about a teenage girl that is a little bit different. With her great life experience and enough titles directed, she made a great movie about growing up. “The Last Keepers” is great family movie that can occupy entire family. Story revolves around sixteen year old Rhea Carver (Zosia Mamet). At this age we can all relate to her. Some of the people in the audience went trough the same things she has, to while the rest are looking at what is waiting for them. Rhea is about to discover many things. Because she is different than other kids in high school, she has to deal with all negative stereotypes from the school. Frightened, they look for safety in numbers and attack everyone that doesn’t fit in. Of course there is the boy. That boy wrote poem about Rhea and red it in front the class. They start developing innocent relationship when she starts discovering her magical powers. It is interesting how she accepts the gift. Coming from family composed from artist she has some stigma following her. Her relations with family are going to be tested after she discovers disturbing messages. She found dead pets and writing ‘Witch’ on windscreen. After that her point of view is moved and she decides to blend in crowd. She starts dressing different, she changed into people that she hangs out with. We have chance to see how she reacts to all new things that are causing her to question everything. Is she going to deny her roots or the prophecy is going to fulfill? Answer to that is going to keep attention of the audience to the end.
