Here is the legend of a man called Zorro. He is one from the people. And no one actually knows his true identity. He has fought for the people and did everything in order to help the people. The original Zorro was Don Diego de la Vega (Anthony Hopkins). But, as the years went by, he got older and older. After confronting his enemy, Don Don Rafael (Stuart Wilson), and getting his wife killed and his daughter taken away, Don Diego found himself imprisoned. After that the situation in the country was good and there was no need for Zorro, so Don Diego carried on his life. Of course, as the situation in country got worse, there was the need for Zorro again, but Don Diego was now too old. He needed a student, a man who will be the new Zorro. That is when he comes across a young drunk, Alejandro Murrieta (Antonio Banderas), who also seeks revenge against Don Rafael, for he killed his brother. Two of them team up, Alejandro gets a proper training, learns everything and is prepared for the battle to come. But, as they plan everything carefully, there is only one thing they are missing. As Alejandro gets closer to Don Rafael, he also falls in love with "his" daughter Elena (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Elena is actually Diego's real daughter, who was taken away years ago and raised in another family. Now, Alejandro gets a final test- balance everything out: hate, vengeance, careful planning, falling in love and staying alive.
