What is the movie The Rite about?
It is considered that the movie is inspired by events that took place in real life. It is produced on the basis of “The Making of a Modern Exorcist” published by Matt Baglio in 2009. The main character of the film – Michael Kovak (Colin O'Donoghue), after his graduation from seminary is skeptic by spirit, but still goes to Vatican to study exorcism. In Rome where he takes classes together with Angelina (Alice Braga), a reporter, who needs to attend the course for an article in a newspaper, he gets acquainted with Father Lucas (Anthony Hopkins) who later reveals to the unbelieving student the secret of the dark side of Christian faith. The student will have to face real demons, make his faith powerful and find his calling…

Anthony Hopkins has conquered me by his performance since the times of the “Silence of the lambs”. I watched this movie and realized that Michael Kovack, the main hero is me, because i am a atheist and full skeptic, but i try not showing it too much that is why i usually do not really participate in all the conversations about religion or faith. So after reading all the review about it, i decided to watch it and sat with a cup of coffee in front of the screen. At the beginning it was quite boring, and i even wanted to turn it off, until the moment when i saw Hopkins. So as soon as he appeared i was watching this movie and holding my breath, because i was realizing that it answers each of my atheist and skeptical questions and is based on true events at the same time. Anthony Hopkins was amazing! And his eyes were speaking as well! The theme about faith in God is very actual lately, but not that much in order to make me change my views about it, but the next day after watching this movie i came to the conclusion that if i do not see something it doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I cannot say it is a horror movie, but i can say it is a very good thriller! I recommend it to all the people who doubt about it!

Finally has appeared a movie that is same worthy as “Omen”, i waited for a very long time something like that, and due to the fact that i am a fan of mystic and everything that has to do with it at the beginning i was touched by it,and by the fact it is based on true events, although very often movie producers are using this “tool” in order to get more attention to their project. This way they take some story and change it so much that you can barely guess what was there in the plot at the beginning. I can say that Anthony Hopkins has amazed me one more time! I think he was created for this kind of roles, and i cannot imagine any other actor performing this role instead of him! After watching this movie for some period of time i kept walking in the streets and turning my back in order to be sure that no one is following me and i am safe, my husband said i am crazy because i like this kind of movies, but it doesn’t changed my great impression about it!

The most terrifying thing for me is that this movie is based on true events! I can say that Anthony Hopkins did great in it ( well as usually)! I watched this movie in the night time, as i found it on tv by accident. I didn't read any reviews about it, and never heard about i before that is why i decided to watch it! And while watching this movie i can say that even my knees were trembling, but nevertheless i watched it till the end! I cannot say that there was something scary in it, nope, there were no serial killers chasing people in it, as well as there were no ghosts or dolls killers. But still it was scary! And that is the real talent of the movie producer to make a movie without blood and multiple murders but scare to death the viewer by it! I never understood people who were watching this kind of movies in the daytime, while being gathered as many people. There are not that many movies of this kind. The last year i saw “Grudge” which was very scary and terrifying for everyone, and i can say that “the grudge” in comparison with “the rite” is a lullaby for the small children!

“The Rite” centers on the very creepy story that makes you think long after the movie has finished. The film takes the matter of faith and its nuances seriously. Quite scary for me and terrifying! The film ha left a deep imprint in my consciousness and I think sub consciousness as well.

Poor character development, a thin plot and predictability make this one a forgettable film.
