The story is about Johnny Hooker who is a young con man, learning everything that he knows from Luther. After committing a crime, they find themselves with a lot of money. The man that they have robbed is actually a courier for a numbers runner and that is what they had no idea about.
His boss is Doyle Lonigan, who thinks that this is an attack on him and that is when the story begins basically.
There is a crooked cop who threatens to turn him over to Lonigan unless he pays him off. Hooker pays him off and then he tries to warn Luther, but something it is just too late.
