If you like watching movies that are made basing on old quality plays, written by Shakespeare or any other writer of certain age, this one will be as a treat for you. It is one of Shakespeare's last pieces- The Tempest. Under the skilful hand of director Julie Taymor, who also wrote the screenplay, this story remains almost the same, but is a bit modified. Unlike the original work, main character of this story is a woman named Prospera (Helen Mirren), who is the duchess of Milan at that time. In the period like 16th or 17th century, women were accused on being witches if they somehow managed to get their hands into the work of alchemists. They were convicted of witchcraft and burned alive. Here, Prospera was replaced by her brother, Antonio (Chris Cooper), who took the throne by force, and sent her off to a remote island along with her small 4 year old daughter. There, she learned how to survive as well as how to be both mother and a father figure for her young girl, Miranda (Felicity Jones). Also, on that island, she finds out that she isn't alone and she somehow manages to enslave Caliban (Djimon Hounsou), who is native there. Twelve years go by with Prospera plotting her revenge. And at one point she gets a chance to unleash all the rage and fury on the ship that takes her brother and his new brother-in-law to the wedding.
