Francesca Gregorini knew how to make a good, exciting thriller- drama about a troubled girl who became preoccupied with her new neighbor. The neighbor was mysterious enough to get her attention, and bared a striking resemblance of her mother who has passed away. Imagine a girl saying "My name is Emanuel. I'm 17 years old and I killed my mother. I had her sliced open, like a goat for the slaughter..." and you will not be even near to the "real" Emanuel.
Emanuel, a girl who somehow believes that she is responsible for her mother's death starts working as a babysitter in her neighbor's house and finds out amazing and unbelievable things about her. She is dealing with loss all the time, through the story. Later, in movie, Emanuel picks up a boyfriend. Internal fights, facing a cruel reality, playing fantasy games, frustrations, misunderstandings... it is just a part of what this movie has to offer during a 90 minutes of tensed storyline turned into film.
Along with Francesca Gregorini, Sarah Thorp also did a good work with the main story, and high quality acting crew helped with giving a unique touch to the whole movie. Kaya Scodelario, Jessica Biel, Jimmi Simpson and Alfred Molina were playing the main roles of Emanuel, Linda, Arthur and Dennis. Finding out the real truth about Emanuel is the main thing that guides a viewer through the whole movie, and will certainly get a lot of attention.
Movie was filmed in California, USA and Los Angeles and is also known as "Emanuel and the Truth about Fishes".
