Everything that makes people who they are is the collection of their memories. What happens when a person loses the memory about the life before? This movie deals with that question in the basics of the plot, but adds a nice twist to it as well. The story was originally inspired by Philip K. Dick's short story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale". The movie adaptation was done by a very creative crew and the movie itself was directed by Paul Verhoeven. After he had been having some weird dreams for years, Douglas Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger) gets tormented by some fake memories about having a trip to planet Mars. So, he sets off to Rekall Inc. a place where they sell memories. He is only interested in getting his memories back and checking if what he dreams of really happened or it's just his imagination. As something goes wrong, the whole adventure with him in the role of a secret agent begins. At one point, he finds himself in the middle of a really good action without having any idea who he really is. His comeback to Mars causes more than one person to be angry at him, including a gorgeous dark haired woman, called Melina (Rachel Ticotin), who seems to be having some history with him.
