“Toy Story 2” holds the distinction of being one of the few sequels held in higher esteem than the original, even though the first part was also a critical success. Again produced by Pixar and released by Walt Disney, it was also a box office success. The events of the sequel take place a few years after the original events. Woody gets his arms ripped off and because of this he is left behind when Andy leaves for cowboy camp. With Andy gone, woody discovers Wheezy, a toy penguin who has been shelved for some time due to a broken squeaker. When Wheezy is put on a yard sale by Andy’s mother, Woody fears that a similar fate awaits him as well. Woody rescues Wheezy, but is then stolen by an evil toy collector and toy store owner Al McWhiggin. It turns out that Woody is a rare collectable doll based on a 1950’s TV show “Woody’s Roundup”, and that he is to be sold to a Tokyo museum, along with the rest of the “Woody’s Roundup” cast: Jessie the cowgirl, Woody’s horse Bullseye and Stinky Pete. Woody doesn’t want to leave Andy, but the other toys are excited to go to Tokyo and convince Woody that he should go to. Meanwhile, other Andy’s toys led by Buzz Lightyear are trying to find Woody and bring him back. They eventually reach Woody and remind him that toy’s purpose is to be played with and not to sit in a museum, but Al McWiggin still has plans of his own.
