Meet Lucy Kelson (Sandra Bullock). She is a highly educated lawyer from Harvard. She is smart, beautiful, and pretty ambitious. Her dream is to follow the footsteps of her parents and become one of the most successful lawyers ever. On the other hand, there is her boss, George Wade (Hugh Grant), who is another rich and superficial face of the Manhattan's elite. Since she is working for him, he uses the opportunity to call her for everything he needs at any time- no matter if it's day or night. The true leader of the Wade Corporation is actually George's brother Howard (David Haig), whose interest is focused strictly on profit of the company, while George is known as a ladies man. At one point, since Lucy feels like being more a nanny then a lawyer, she resigns and leaves her boss in the middle of a store during his shopping. That understands that she needs to fulfil the two week notice, so the company could find the replacement for her. As the new girl comes, both Lucy and George find themselves in chaos, each in their own one, with a bit of jealousy here and there. With her parents being against her working for that company from the beginning, she is torn between everything that happens.
