What is the movie Vertigo about?
There is something special about the 50's movies that makes them so popular, or maybe that has to do something with the fact that Alfred Hitchcock is the director of most of those movies, especially the horror ones. Here is one of his most popular ones for sure. It is called Vertigo and it is a story about a detective from San Francisco who is retired and he is basically suffering from acrophobia. His job is to investigate weird activities of his old friend's wife, but at the same time he finds it more than difficult not to become obsessed with her. John Ferguson is the detective's name in Vertigo and his friend Gavin Elster has asked him to do him a favor and look after his wife and pay a close attention and tell him about everything that she's been up to. Elster is basically concerned of her safety since she has started to believe that she is the reincarnation of a woman who has died many years ago and that is the main reason why he asked for the detective's help in the first place. She even tried to kill herself, but luckily for her, the detective managed to save her, and this is only one of the interesting situations in which they have found themselves in. Of course, he fell in love with her and that is when the real story begins... James Stewart is John Scottie Ferguson, Kim Novak is Madeleine Ester and Barbara Bel Geddes plays Midge Wood.

A cop who is recently retired from the force because he suffers from vertigo takes a job trailing an old college friend's wife and grows obsessed with the mysterious woman. A masterpiece of dizzying psychological depths.

"Vertigo" is Alfred Hitchcock's beautifully stylized psychological thriller about a man in love with a fetishized romantic fantasy invented by another man.

It is one of the main movies ever created by Alfred Hitchcock, which characterizes him as a movie producer who is able to create masterpiece movies in each kind of genre, despite the common belief that usually genius people specialize in one single thing. According to the version of the American cinema institution this movie is one of the best top ten movies ever created in the world. Personally i think it is a good movie, but i would certainly not place it in the top ten movies i love most of all, that is why it is a surprise for me that someone did that, i think there are movies more worthy for that list.
In this movie i liked everything Kim Novak who performed Madeline’s role and Judy’s role equally great ( the subject line of the movie was unknown for me until the moment when i first saw Judy and realized everything), at the beginning i thought those were two different actresses. James Stewart was perfect in his image of a romantic and at the same time very boring hero, there are a lot of wonderful landscapes in the movie that underlie the relationship of the in love couple!

After watching this movie i felt the desire to finally breathe freely, with the words in my head “Ugh finally it is finished”. And it is not due to the fact that this movie has held me tensed, but because it was very difficult for me to watch it till the end. It was even harder than i expected! Yes i am not a person who has a lot of ideas about the cinema, but at the same time i realize that movies are filmed not for the specialists in the area, but for simple people as i am. I liked the subject of the movie very much. But the fact that the great master of the movies Alfred Hitchcock has stretched it into two boring hours, boring with big letters in order to show how much it pissed me off. While being a simple viewer i can say that it was not that interesting for me to watch it. That is why my impression from the movie is not that good as it could be. The movie “Vertigo” has become for me an ordinary grey movie, one of those which are so many online, that is why i don’t really suggest it.

Scotty Ferguson is a detective who has to stop his main activities due to the fear of height. He was feeling dizzy while being somewhere high. But the reason why he felt so dizzy was not only height but also the beautiful blonde woman. Scotty is being hired to follow her, as the cute blonde is able to make a suicide. And that is the time when the real detective story starts. As well as the love story at the same time. Unlike all the usual works of Hitchcock, this story puts love line on the first place by giving it a stroke of intenses psychologism. Kim Novak was breathtaking in her role- her duchess was full of grace, tender and at the same time evil. The viewer who is not able to tolerate would probably feel disappointed, but for me a person who is a fan of Alfred Hitchcock this movies has become a new gift by the maestro. That is why i demand all of you to watch this movie, it is a gorgeous one! As well as all the other movies that he has ever done, before.
