We Are What We Are is a spooky thriller with some elements of a drama starring Bill Sage, Ambyr Childers and Julia Garner. It is a story of a family which, seemingly, is a wholesome and benevolent. The Parkers always keep to themselves, but they have a very good reason for it. Behind closed doors, far from the eyes of public, patriarch Frank rules his family with an iron fist. He is determined to keep his ancestral customs intact. Rainstorm moves into the area and his daughters Iris and Rose are forced to assume responsibilities which extend beyond those of a normal family. The rain continues to flood their small town and the local authorities keep getting closer to the secret of the Parkers family which was kept intact for so many years. This movie is a remake of a Spanish movie, but, some could say that it's better than the original. We Are What We Are is a stunning movie, it is a tale of a man who loses his wife and suffers an emotional collapse. The acting is brilliant and the plot is interesting and engaging. The pacing is slow but it fits the movie just right. There isn't much gore in the movie, which is a plus. If you want to see a spooky thriller, this movie is an excellent choice.
