What is the movie We Were Soldiers about?
In the time of war in Vietnam, a new unit is to be formed. Led by the two officers from the special forces, they create new unit (13th Cavalry). Even though they do not use horses, they are in cavalry because they are using helicopters to go in and out of battle. He gets new recruits, new officers that barely have few days off the academy, and starts working with them to make them ready for what expects them. Because they were badly informed, they landed on the worst possible place. They almost landed at the main base of Vietnamese army with more than 10000 people. Because of that, they get decimated and almost all killed. As they are working to keep themselves alive and carry out the orders to take over the hill where base actually is located, they get to care about each-other and they work together to survive. At the end of the movie, they do get to the top of the hill, take it over, but there is no joy in their victory, because they know that price was too high and that they lost more than just lives of their friends to get to the top of this hill. Also, worth to mention is that there are scenes that are showing that even in war, there is no need to kill people because you can, but to live with them.
