He is wild child, famous, drinking, smoking and driving at the same time. He is a ladies man. He is a superstar Ted Hamilton (Josh Duhamel). As his face gets yet again all over the front page of the local newspaper, his agents decide that it's the best to turn everything into his favour. So, they make a contest for all of girls around the world to try and win the date with him. And boy, do these girls dream about having a date with him, because he is so romantic in the movies. But, what they don't know is that he isn't like that in real life. And one lucky girl gets the chance for a date. On the other side, there is a simple grocery worker, a girl called Rosalee Futch (Kate Bosworth), who is, like her best friend, bedazzled with the idea of winning this contest and getting a date with Ted. At the surprise of all people, especially her, she is the lucky girl who won the prize of dating Ted Hamilton. But, as she does get that chance, we get to see that one of her co workers, Pete Monash (Topher Grace), is actually in love with her. And after the date goes better than each side expected, both Ted's agents as well as Pete now have a problem they didn't count on and which they have to deal with.
