Wreckers is pretty unusual movie that was made by Dictynna Hood, who both wrote the script and directed it. The plot is pretty simple, yet captivating. It revolves around a young couple- David (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Dawn (Claire Foy). They decide to get back to David's hometown in order to start a family. These two are both teachers, who live in the woods in their little cottage. And when it seems that it's all perfect, David's brother Nick gets into the picture. Nick (Shaun Evans) is suffering from PTSD and has lots of nightmare, screams, sleepwalks, breaks everything he sees, simply destroying everything. Although Dawn brings up the idea that Nick should talk to someone about it or go to hospital, no one does anything about it. But, Nick's arrival brings up lots of other stuff. Dawn then gets to know a lot more about her husband, who grew up in a working class in a very violent family. As the story goes on, we see her finding out about her husband's past more and more, and at one point, the audience can relate to her not knowing any more who she married to. This movie is basically about reinventing yourself and how the things from past intervene with the present and future. It is about human nature and which lies a person tells firstly to oneself and then to others. And what happens when they are revealed.
