Have you ever wondered what is the difference between growing and growing up? Well, if you didn't know by now, here is the movie that will make it clearer- Young Adult. The centre of the story is a 37 year old Mavis Gary (Charlize Theron), who gets divorced, comes back to the town where she grew up and decides to win her former boyfriend over, who is now, by the way, married and has a baby. But, that's doesn't stop her. It all starts with Mavis gets divorced. Although she is a teen literature writer and has her books sold everywhere, she has found herself in ruins. She grew but she never grew up, so she is always behaving like a teen drama queen. She is lonely and she decides to come back to her town and try and win her high school sweetheart over. As she gets there, she gets a reality check from her friend Matt Freehauf (Patton Oswalt), who meets her in the pub. As he hears her plans, he tells her that he is now married and has a baby, but she doesn't care. And although Buddy (Patrick Wilson), the guy she's trying to win over, tells her the same thing, her response to that is: "I know. We can beat this thing together." This movie, brought to the viewers by Diablo Cody and directed by Jason Reitman is a valuable lesson from the real life.
