Sam Neil was born as Nigel John Dermott Neil in September 1947 in Omaha city, which is located in Northern Ireland. He was the second son of Dermot Neill who was an army officer, and the alumni of a prestigious war institution, like Harrow-Scull and Royal War Academy in Sandhurst. His mother’s name was Priscilla and she was originally from UK. His family owned a company Neill & Co which was selling alcohol drinks in New Zealand. After that he entered the Canterbury University where he learnt the English literature and in which he performed as an actor the first time in his life. Later he continued his studying in the Victoria University in Wellington where he got his bachelor’s degree in English Literature. In 1983 was born his son Tom from a New Zealand actress Lisa Harrow, and in 1990 was born his daughter Elena from a makeup woman Norico Watanabee with whom he married in 1989. He became popular after performing professor’s role in the movie “Jurassic Park” and in “Jurassic Park 2” in which he performed with Jeff Goldblum. It is interesting to know that he was invited to perform Elrond’s role in the “Lord of the rings” but he turned down the offer due to performing in the second part of the movie directed by Stephen King.
